Learn all about apples and the life cycle of the apple tree with our free The Apple Pie Tree activities and lapbook.
This lapbook includes printable activities based on the book The Apple Pie Tree.
Two young sisters follow the progress of their apple tree through the seasons, from a bare tree in the winter, through the pink blossoms of the spring, to the apple picking in the autumn.
Thanks to Linda Rose for preparing this The Apple Pie Tree Lapbook.
The Apple Pie Tree Lapbook Printables
The following mini-books are included in The Apple Pie Tree Lapbook:
Apple Songs and Poems Layer Book
Enjoy these songs and finger plays together. Songs and rhymes are great brain-building tools for young students.
Four Seasons Flap Book
The Apple Pie Tree depicts all four seasons. Discuss this with your student. Use the trees provided to make winter, spring, summer, and fall apple trees. Paste them in the four seasons flap book.
Opposites Cards & Pocket
The apples start small and then, by autumn, they are big and ready to be picked. Let your student color and match the opposites cards. Cards include: rain, sunshine; up, down, big, small; and empty, full.
Apple Pie Ingredients Simple Fold
What do you need to make an apple pie? Color, cut, and paste the ingredients into the simple fold.
How to Make an Apple Pie Mini-book
Make an apple pie together (a recipe is included in The Apple Pie Tree). You can use the recipe as a time to explore some math concepts.
After your pie is made, let your student dictate to you how to make an apple pie. Write your student’s instructions in the mini-book. Sometimes the final instructions are pretty cute and something you will enjoy for years to come.
Bees and Pollination
At the end of The Apple Pie Tree, Zoe Hall has written information about bees. Read through it with your student and help your student make the Bees Petal Book for your The Apple Pie Tree lapbook.
My Five Senses Flap Book
In the book, the main character says the pie smells “so good” and that the pie tastes “delicious.” Discuss the concept of five senses with your student. Our senses help us explore and understand the world around us.
Take an apple and decide: What does it look like? What does it sound like (if you drop it)? What does it feel like? What does it smell like? What does it taste like? Write your students observations under the flaps.
This is a great way to explore science with your little learners.
Letter A Accordion Book
Introduce or review the letter A with this pre-reading activity. Use the book to reinforce the sound letter A makes.
