How to Use the Frog Shapes Tracing Worksheets
You can simply print the pages and let your student trace the frog shapes with a crayon, pencil, or marker.
However, if you want to reuse the pages, laminate them or use them with Dry Erase Sleeves or page protectors and a dry erase marker.
If your student isn’t ready to write, your student can use a variety of manipulatives to “trace” the frog shapes.
You can try green yarn, pipe cleaners, playdough, or even small green candies to place around the shapes. For extra fun (and a big ick-factor), use small plastic flies to “trace” the shapes.
Here is a sample of the tracing pages with Wikki Stix. Wikki Stix are waxed yarn, and they are a fun manipulative to use with these tracing pages.
Benefits of the Frog Shapes Tracing Pages
These frog shape tracing pages will help your student practice fine motor skills. They can also help your student with other skills.
You can use the pages to teach the shape names to your student. “Look at this shape. It has four sides. Let’s count them. Are any of the sides equal? That’s right. It has two pairs of equal sides. What is the name of this shape? Yes! A rectangle.”
You can also use these pages to help your student analyze two-dimensional shapes. Ask questions. Is an oval like a circle? How are they the same? How are they different? How many sides does a hexagon have? How many sides does a star have? Which one of the shapes looks the most like a real frog?
They will also help your student learn the names of shapes. Ten shapes are included in this printable set:
- diamond
- rectangle
- square
- circle
- star
- oval
- triangle
- heart
- hexagon
- octagon
